The painting "Studentin aus Ghana", which is one of two titles mentioned on its reverse side, is one of the objects under research for the Projektseminar “Multimodal Forschen und (Re)Präsentieren: Das Lebendige Archiv im Amo Salon Berlin” at the IfEE WISE 2023/24. The painting is part of the art collection of HU Berlin and has been created by the artist and professor of HU, Wolfgang Frankenstein, in 1967. It was loaned to the Institute for European Ethnology for Regina Römhild's office, from where it will be passed on to the Amo Archive in 2024. The painting refers to the GDR history of the Humboldt University and to the relations of the GDR to the politically allied states and movements at the time of liberation from colonial rule. It also refers to the largely concealed history and presence of Black students in the GDR and in today's Germany, as well as to their significance for a post-migrant, post-colonial contemporary society.
Das Gemälde "Studentin aus Ghana", einer der beiden auf der Rückseite genannten Titel, ist eines der Forschungsobjekte des Projektseminars "Multimodales Forschen und (Re)Präsentieren: Das Lebendige Archiv im Amo Salon Berlin" am IfEE WISE 2023/24. Das Gemälde ist Teil der Kunstsammlung der HU Berlin und wurde 1967 von dem Künstler und Professor der HU, Wolfgang Frankenstein, geschaffen. Es wurde dem Institut für Europäische Ethnologie als Leihgabe für das Büro von Regina Römhild zur Verfügung gestellt, von wo es 2024 an das Amo-Archiv weitergegeben wird. Das Gemälde verweist auf die DDR-Geschichte der Humboldt-Universität und auf die Beziehungen der DDR zu den politisch verbündeten Staaten und Bewegungen zur Zeit der Befreiung aus kolonialer Herrschaft. Es verweist auch auf die weitgehend verschwiegene Geschichte und Präsenz Schwarzer Studierender in der DDR und im heutigen Deutschland sowie auf deren Bedeutung für eine postmigrantische, postkoloniale Gegenwartsgesellschaft.
