IfEE, in collaboration with Amo collective Berlin and Coopdisco, commissioned Kpaluhi —a socio-cultural project working with a weaving women's group from Ngarin village, a suburb of Tamale, Northern Ghana—to produce different formats of cushion covers made for the Amo Salon space as part of the modular wooden infrastructures designed and built by Coopdisco.
One of the aims of the Amo Collective is to establish international collaborations, particularly with civil society, artistic and academic actors in Ghana, the country where Anton Wilhelm Amo spent the first years of his life and to which he returned after his academic career. The collaboration with Kpaluhi was one of the first of this kind.
As part of the WARP Lectures organised by CARMAH on 12 July 2023 at the Helmholtz Zentrum für Kulturtechnik, Amo collective member Kwame Aidoo presented Kpaluhi's work.

Weaving is an age-old art form; a living heritage portal that solidifies identity and aesthetic languages through community-creative collaborative intergenerational passing on of skills, codes, stories and culture. By creating Kpaluhi: a dynamic weaving village in Ngarin- a suburb of Tamale in Northern Ghana, the conceptual and procedural framework borrows from the traditional techniques while developing new aspects to enable a promising art installation that activates a sustainable safe space for mainly young rural women, for accessible deeper research, exploration and intervention with the craft, with respect to the forms, design, logistics, products, processes and ecosystem. Consequently, the needle shifts with respect to societal margins of class, gender parity, economies, expressiveness and global potentials (see more https://www.carmah.berlin/events/60947/).
In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Amo-Kollektiv Berlin und Coopdisco beauftragte das IfEE Kpaluhi - ein soziokulturelles Projekt, das mit einer Gruppe von Weberinnen aus dem Dorf Ngarin, einem Vorort von Tamale im Norden Ghanas, zusammenarbeitet - mit der Herstellung verschiedener Formate von Kissenbezügen für den Amo-Salon, die Teil der von Coopdisco entworfenen und gebauten modularen Holz-Infrastruktur sind.
Eines der Ziele des Amo Salons ist es, internationale Kooperationen zu etablieren, insbesondere mit zivilgesellschaftlichen, künstlerischen und akademischen Akteuren in Ghana, dem Land, in dem Anton Wilhelm Amo seine ersten Lebensjahre verbrachte, und in das er nach seiner wissenschaftlichen Karriere wieder zurückkehrte. Die Zusammenarbeit mit Kpaluhi war eine der ersten Kooperationen dieser Art.

Die Weberei ist eine jahrtausendealte Kunstform, ein lebendiges Portal des Kulturerbes, das Identität und ästhetische Sprachen durch die gemeinschaftlich-kreative, generationenübergreifende Weitergabe von Fertigkeiten, Codes, Geschichten und Kultur festigt. Mit der Gründung von Kpaluhi, einem dynamischen Weberdorf in Ngarin, einem Vorort von Tamale im Norden Ghanas, greift der konzeptionelle und verfahrenstechnische Ansatz auf traditionelle Techniken zurück und entwickelt gleichzeitig neue Aspekte, um eine zukunftsträchtige Kunsteinrichtung zu schaffen, die vor allem jungen Frauen im ländlichen Raum einen nachhaltigen, sicheren Ort bietet, an dem sie ihr Handwerk in Bezug auf Formen, Design, Logistik, Produkte, Prozesse und Ökosystem entwickeln, vertiefen und erforschen können.
